 The Other Side

PROLOGUE

Willow and Giles stared in wide-eyed amazement at the sight they were  witnessing!  Buffy and Angelus, who had been, only seconds before,  locked in fierce battle, were now locked in a passionate embrace.  Both  were utterly confused, as they watched two mortal enemies kissing
blindly and tearing each others clothes off.

Confusion gave way to a  clear picture of what had been going on with Buffy lately.  The sparkle  had left her eyes, her smile no longer lit a room, when she could manage  one.  Whatever had drawn her to Angel in the first place had not  lessened its hold.   It had possibly gotten stronger.  Giles could feel  the heat between the two lovers from across the cemetery.  This explained a lot.  Buffy's bruised and swollen lips, her tear stained  face, which he had attributed to losing Angel.  She couldn't stay away  from this demon and she was hating herself for it.

Fear gripped him as he thought of what would happen to Buffy when Angelus had grown tired of
these games they were playing and he grabbed Willow and rushed quickly  to the school to make amends with an old friend and see what they could  do to save his slayer and the demon she loved..

Part I (Two nights later)

Giles, Willow and Jenny Calendar stood in the shadows at the Sunnydale Cemetery awaiting the arrival of Buffy, who was to be patrolling, and  Angelus who surely would be there to torment her.  They each held a piece of the puzzle to recursing Angel and restoring his soul.  All they  had to do was wait for him to come and hope Buffy could keep him busy,  fighting or otherwise until the ritual could be completed.  Thankfully,  they didn't have long to wait.

Buffy moved with catlike grace through the graves and approached the  south wall, barely making a sound.  Within seconds Angel had leapt from  the other side and had Buffy pinned to the ground.  Never were two  opponents more suited for each other. Buffy threw him off her as if he  weighed nothing and rose to her feet in battle stance.

Willow was again mesmerized by what she was witnessing and Giles had to  clear his throat several times before he had drawn her attention from  the fighters to the task at hand.  She took her cue and began to whisper  her part of the Romanian curse, hoping Angel didn't smell the stinky  herbs she was waving back and forth while she chanted.

Meanwhile, Buffy had managed to pin Angelus to the ground and sat  astride him, stake in hand.  The group behind the trees sped up their  cursing and chanting and as Angel pulled Buffy down for a kiss, the orb  in Jenny's hand glowed and he broke their embrace with a howl of pain.

She jumped off him and again stood ready to fight, but he didn't get  up.  He shook his head to clear it as if he'd been knocked out, and  looked up at Buffy with tears and confusion in his eyes.
Remembering  what they had been doing only seconds before, his eyes hardened and he  was off and running away before she could blink.

Her Watcher and friends came out from their hiding place to offer  comfort and explanations.  When she saw them she realized what had  happened and what they had seen and she too sprinted off, but not before  they could see the pain and embarrassment on her face.

PART II

Buffy waited until she could no longer stand it.  The fear and embarrassment of what she had done
with Angelus were nothing compared to the anger she felt.  How dare he run from her again.  After
all she had done to be with him, he had the nerve to be angry at her.  For what?  Sleeping with the
enemy?  Didn't he know that she would take any part of him he offered, demon or not?  She had
given herself to him body and soul the moment they joined for the first time.  Was she supposed to
stop loving him just because he had stopped being her champion?  If she had stopped loving him
he'd be dead by now.

She had waited two days for him to contact her and she wasn't waiting any longer.  Leaving her
house an hour before sunrise she knew he would still be in doors and therefore, he couldn't escape
her.

Angel hadn't slept in the two days since his soul had been restored.  He revisited every torment he
had lain on Buffy since the demon had taken over and was so wracked by guilt and so angry at the
scene he had woken up to in the cemetery, he could not rest.  Those things combined with his need
to eat, forced him to get up and since he hadn't been in this apartment since the night he'd shared
with Buffy there was nothing here to nourish him.

Showering quickly in an attempt to clear his head, he was about to put a shirt on and head to the
hospital for a supply of blood when he heard someone entering the apartment.  He looked up to see
a very hot tempered Buffy standing in front of him.

"I can't believe you let him touch you."  The words were out of his mouth before he could stop
them.

"I can't believe you don't understand why I did."  The slice of her words cut into him like a knife.

Angel sat on the bed exhaustedly, knowing he had to face her, to listen to her explain and hating
himself even more for it.  Why should she have to explain anything to him, he was the monster not
her.  She should have killed him and ended this months ago.

"Tell me."  He said simply, the fight gone from his voice and her eyes softened as she looked at
him.

"It's simple.  I love you, all of you.  In order for me to love all of you I have to love the demon
too.  He's a part of you.  You can't let go of him, how could I?  Maybe it started off being a
punishment to myself.  I made him come back, I deserved whatever he wanted to do to me.  It
stopped being that a long time ago. "  Walking to the bed and sitting beside him, she continued.

"Anything left of you was in him.  If I wanted to be near you, that was the only way it was
possible.  Sure, it wasn't exactly the same.  But sometimes, if I closed my eyes and my mind,
only opened up my heart, it was you.  It was still your face I was kissing, your body I was
holding.  It was you I was loving.  I thought maybe since my love took you away, it could
eventually bring you back."

"Is that what happened?"  he asked her softly, wanting to comfort her so badly as he watched the
tears flowing freely from her beautiful eyes.

"No.  Nothing as silly and poetic as that.  Giles, Willow and Jenny recursed you.  They must
have come across us, um, fighting, and figured they better do something."  Somehow the small
distance between them had closed and they were sitting side by side on the bed, bodies touching.

"He could have killed you, so many times.  You let your guard down, it's your job to kill the
vamp..."  His train of thought was broken when she touched his thigh with her tiny hand and the
anger he felt had drained.  "You're the chosen one,"  He tried again, but lost himself in her eyes as
she smiled at him.

"Yeah, well right now I'm the choosing one and I chose you.  And I chose to stop talking,
now!"  Her eyes were no longer soft, but focused on her intended victim and he felt a shiver run
down his spine.  She was no long the innocent, shy girl he had made love to in this bed.  She was all
woman, she knew her body, what it wanted and he felt a small amount of pride to have been the
only one to bring this out in her, demon or not.

"Buffy, what if it happens again?  I'm not willing to risk it, are you?"  His feeble attempts at
holding her off were flimsy at best.  He wanted to pin her to the bed and show her how much he
loved and missed her, but did not want to bring any more torment to her life.

She growled at him, something else she must have picked up along the way, and grabbed the phone, dialing furiously.

"Will it happen again?"  Buffy shouted into the phone at her Watcher as soon as he picked it up.

"Uh, no, but Buffy, we really need to discuss this..."  He was still speaking as she slammed the
receiver down and stalked towards the bed.  Angel saw the look in her eyes and couldn't help but
be a little afraid.  He had created a monster.

Buffy's eyes were still gleaming as she circled the bed and him, deciding on the best way to pounce.  She had apparently received the answer she was looking for with her phone call and Angel could almost see her mind working as he shivered in anticipation of what she would do to him.

Impatiently, he attempted to rise from his sitting position on the bed, but the look she gave him told him to stay put, and he did willingly. Somewhere along the line, she must have decided to slow down, because instead of diving for him, she stepped back and slowly began to unbutton
her shirt.

By the time she was done with the last button he was shaking with need and he stared at her, a look of awe on his face.  He had forgotten how incredibly beautiful she was.  Angelus had never appreciated true beauty, for a moment maybe, enough to attract his attention, then would look past it to see how it could be destroyed.  He had missed just looking at her, and this, this was something he never thought he'd see again.

When he managed again to focus, he saw that she had stepped out of her skirt and stood before him in a bra and a minuscule pair of panties and he was done waiting.  He leapt from the bed and practically tackled her to the ground.  Wrapping his arms around her to break her fall, he began
to kiss her tenderly and the feel of his arms around her and his soft lips on hers was her undoing.  She sobbed into his naked chest, silently thanking her wonderful friends for bringing him back to her.  This was what she had been searching for with Angelus and feeling him now, she knew it would never have been.

He comforted her, stroking her hair and back softly until her tears subsided.  Her hunger for him intensified with his tenderness and she rubbed herself against him and moaned softly.  He took this as his cue and attempted to remove her bra, growing frustrated and eventually ripping it off with a growl.  A few months ago this would have frightened her, but now, it only turned her on more, if that was possible.  The panties came off in the same fashion and he drew back, eyes lingering over her naked body.

Buffy was glowing, basking in his gaze, her love for him evident in the flush that covered her body.  He quickly removed his pants, and the love in her eyes turned to desire as he slid up her body and she felt his weight upon her.  She wrapped her legs around him and he could feel her wetness as he entered her slowly.  She briefly wondered how the same man could feel so completely different, yet so much the same, but then he began to move inside her and all thoughts were lost.

He started off thrusting slowly but soon she slipped her hands to his buttocks and drew him in as far as he would go.  Together they found a rhythm and she met him thrust for thrust until he was about to burst from the feel of her wondrous body and her love for him.

He felt her clenching around him and knowing her climax was about to hit, he let himself go, coming with her as she moaned and bit his shoulder.  She wrapped her arms around him, as he tensed, and he remembered what had happened the last time he had felt this content.

Sensing his thoughts, she kissed him softly and murmured words of love. He began to relax in her arms and prayed silently that he would someday be able to repay those who had brought him back to the love of his life.

The End

I know this song is kind of corny, but it kind of fits my story so,
don't laugh, I like it!

I'll Be - Edwin McCain Band

The strands in your eyes that color them wonderful
Stop me and steal my breath
Emeralds from mountains thrust towards the sky
Never revealing their depth
Tell me that we belong together
Dress it up with the trappings of love
I'll be captivated
I'll hang from your lips
Instead of the gallows of heartache that hang from above

Chorus
I'll be your crying shoulder
I'll be love suicide
I'll be better when I'm older
I'll be the greatest fan of your life

Rain falls angry on the tin roof
As we lie awake in my bed
You're my survival, you're my living proof
My love is alive not dead
Tell me that we belong together
Dress it up with the trappings of love
I'll be captivated I'll hang from your lips
Instead of the gallows of heartache, that hang from above

Repeat chorus

I've been dropped out, burned up, fought my way back from the dead
Turned in, turned out, remembered the things that you said

Repeat chorus
